Indians are ancestors of Japanese, Chinese

In a breakthrough in the study of evolution of humans and their spread across the world, scientists from India and 10 other countries have found that it is the Indians who are the ancestors of Japanese, Chinese and all east Asians.
“This is path breaking. This large study establishes that Indians are ancestors of Japanese, Chinese and all other East Asians,” Samir Brahmachari, director general of the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) told IANS Friday.

According to the study, people from India moved to southeast Asia and east Asia. “They all have a common genetic origin. It shows that India represents a microcosm of Asia’s genetic diversity,” Brahmachari later told media persons here.

In New Zealand: Opotiki teens jailed for raping Japanese tourist

A Japanese tourist was brutally raped and robbed in her bedroom by two teenage gang prospects, as her Opotiki host family watched television in another room.

Today her attackers Ranginui Rahi, 18, and Mark Hati, 16, both of Opotiki, were convicted and sentenced in Whakatane District Court to nine years’ imprisonment for rape and sexual violation. Judge Peter Rollo also sentenced them to four years’ jail for aggravated robbery to be served concurrently.

“It was a disgusting, brutal, degrading crime – a prolonged and violent attack on a young Japanese tourist to our country,” Judge Rollo said. He said Hati and Rahi had damaged their 22-year-old victim’s mana as well as physically injuring her internally and externally. “You treated her with degrading violence for your own sexual pleasure.”

Flanked by police officers, the teenagers stood with blank faces and hands clasped in front of them as the judge told how they broke into the Ford Street house on the night of August 31.

Rahi was armed with a baseball bat while Hati had a piece of firewood. Judge Rollo said they saw the host family watching TV and crept into the girl’s room to steal a laptop they had seen through the window.

Finding her in the room, they shut the door and each raped her several times and forced her to perform oral sex on them, all the while threatening her and searching the room for valuables, Judge Rollo said. The pair were caught by police two days later and entered guilty pleas soon after.

The judge said Hati had been prospecting for the Mongrel Mob since he was 13 and said he expected to become a patched member as a result of this offending when he was released from prison.

Detective Senior Sergeant Greg Standen said police would convey the outcome to the victim, who was still in New Zealand, as soon as she could be contacted and they had also been in touch with the Japanese Consulate.

Japanese Building Robot from ‘Aliens’ Movie

Japanese engineers have taken us one step closer to the robot revolution by developing a machine inspired by the movie Aliens.

The Dual-Arm Power Amplification Robot by Activelink gives users superhuman strength and resembles the hydraulic exoskeleton worn by Sigourney Weaver in the climactic scene of the sci-fi classic.

The robot is being developed for disaster relief situations and can lift more than 200 pounds. However it weighs more than 500 lbs, making it heavy enough to crush the average human without support.

Chief engineer Go Shirogauchi told news.com.au his team was currently working on a way to make the arms lighter for standalone use. “The main material used is aluminium alloy,” Mr Shirogauchi said.

“Though aluminium itself is a light material compared to iron, in order to make the body lighter we are making some parts of the arms and legs hollow.” Mr Shirogauchi said the first design priority was to make sure the operator was safe.

“The most important challenge is not to injure the operator with the amplified power,” he said. “For that challenge, a delicate control and a mechanics design which does not put too much force onto a human in the worst situation is required.”

The robot, dubbed the “Power Loader” after its Hollywood counterpart, uses 18 electromagnetic motors with direct force feedback that allow the human operator to control its behavior.

“Most robot researchers think that robots should move as automatically as possible with very little human instruction,” Mr Shirogauchi said.

“What we are developing is a robot which moves only when an instruction is given from a human and moves exactly according to that instruction.”

The robot’s primary purpose is construction and comes with interchangeable parts to adapt to any situation.

“Our intention is not to develop a small power shovel, but to create a common platform which can be applied to many areas other than the construction sites,” Mr Shirogauchi said.

“It’s like the body of a truck. A truck can be converted to a dumper truck, a cement mixer car, a crane car, a fire engine, a bus or something else by replacing the carrier.” Mr Shirogauchi said Activelink had no plans for the robot to be modified for combat, but people had expressed interest in its use in disaster relief and warehouses.

The arms are expected to cost $329,000 when the robot becomes fully operational. Activelink hope to finish work on it by 2015. Activelink is owned by Panasonic and financed by the consumer technology company’s Spin-Up Fund. The fund is designed to support employee projects.

Pornostar not allowed to enter Indonesia

Japanese pornostar not allowed to enter Indonesia.

Pornostar Maria ‘Miyabi’ Ozawa (小澤マリア) is not allowed to enter Indonesia. Religious Muslims prevented the Japanese pornoactress of getting a visa.

Miyabi (みやび) would play in a (normal) movie. She would not have to take off her clothes, but even so, her presence would enrage the mullahs. A large amount of Indonesians protested against the holy leaders, but the minister of Tourism decided not to give Miyabi a visa.

According to the producer, the porno actress will be coming to Indonesia anyway, it’s just that her journey had some delays.

Maria Ozawa’s mother is Japanese and her father is French-Canadian.

POW ‘veteran’ Arthur Rex Crane ‘living a lie’

The Federal Government has referred a case of alleged fraud involving a man who claimed to be one of Australia’s youngest prisoners of war to the Australian Federal Police for investigation.

Prisoners of War

South Australian Arthur Rex Crane, 83, has been on the highest level of service pension since 1988 and is the Federal President of the Prisoners of War Association of Australia, Fairfax Media reported.

He has alleged he was captured by the Japanese in 1942, became a prisoner of war at 15 and was imprisoned in Singapore’s Outram Road jail.

But the Sydney Morning Herald reported that throughout the war the 83-year-old lived in Adelaide and had never served in the military.

The newspaper said that when confronted about his past, Mr Crane said: “It is me living a lie, isn’t it?” Federal Veterans Affairs Minister Alan Griffin released a statement describing the case as disgusting.

“Personally, I think for anyone to impersonate a prisoner of war is disgusting. It is a betrayal of all the values our veterans stand for,” Mr Griffin said. He said his department had referred the matter to the AFP on Thursday.

“This matter should be pursued to the fullest extend of the law and I am confident that the AFP will do so. I eagerly await the outcome of that investigation.”
